The Foundation for Community Development (FDC) and GIZ through the Green People’s Energy (GPE) Programme in Mozambique, are launching a call for proposals for the Social Infrastructure Window from FASER, "Fund for Sustainable Access to Renewable Energy".

Companies are invited to submit proposals before 20 September 2021.

The objective of FASER is to stimulate the value and distribution chain of renewable energy (RE) technology markets in Mozambique and promote a broader adoption of such technologies across the country, thereby contributing to the efforts of the Mozambican government to achieve the ambitious target of providing universal energy access by 2030.

The Social Infrastructure (SI) Window was set-up to facilitate the collaboration between the public and the private sector to accelerate the electrification of rural health care facilities (HCF) and other social infrastructure by means of Solar PV systems. It targets all regions of Mozambique, except urban Maputo.

In this first call for applications, the SI Window will focus on health care facilities only and will require a close collaboration of participating companies with the Mozambican Ministry of Health (MISAU). The companies are expected to liaise with MISAU to identify the HCF to be electrified and prepare the specifications of the system to be supplied.

Eligible to the SI Window are Suppliers and Distributors of Solar PV Technologies with a proven track record of successful electrification projects in Mozambique. Agents can be companies, as well as consortia between local and international companies that provide turnkey systems. Participating companies will receive an incentive to cover, in full, the costs of the electrification of each HCF. No monetary contribution is expected from the HCF or MISAU.
